Oda Nobunaga was one of the most ambitious, organized and brutal rulers in the history of Japan. Born into the Oda clan he was considered a madman and fool from an early age, but after he secured his position of power in his clan, and then in Japan, he was seen as brilliant. His ambition was no less than the entire conquest of Japan. During his rise and rule he fought countless battles and was a military genius who utilized cunning and courage. At the top of his reign he was assassinated by one of his loyal generals, Akechi Mitsuhide. This a commemorative sword of Oda Nobunaga and the Period of the Warring States. This is one part of our Daimyo Katana Sword Series.
*Please note that the sword does not come with the sword bag or sword stand in the photos.
- Blade: The blade of the sword has been hand made with High Carbon Steel. The Carbon has been hammered out through the blade so that it has a universal hardness throughout the entire blade. A Bo-Hi has been added to the top of the blade to even out the weight and give audible feedback. The sword comes full tang with an O-Kissake.
- Saya: The Saya of the sword is wooden with a black glossy finish. The Sageo is black cotton wrapped around a wooden Kurigata with golden shitodome. The Koi-guchi has been hardened.
- Tsuba: The Tsuba is blackened copper with a scene of two Bushi fighting Nobunaga in a river. On the reverse side of the Tsuba is Oda Nobunaga with his sword. The Habaki of the sword is a one piece antiqued copper construction. The seppa are bright brass
- Tsuka: The Tsuka of the sword is white Ray Skin with a black cotton wrap. The Menuki are oxidized copper dragons. Two bamboo Mekugi secure the blade in the Tsuka.
